Veterans Day - Connie G.

November 11th is a very special day around the country. Veterans Day is a nationally observed holiday to honor those who have served our country in the United State Armed Services.

Connie Gallaher is the president of OhioHealth Home Care.  Her son, Michael Patrick Gallaher is a 2nd lieutenant, currently serving with the United States Air Force. "When you son comes to you and says he wants to serve the country, there is such a tremendous amount of pride knowing that he wants to serve. At the same time, there is that part of you that knows, in the world we live in today, that he could be in harm's way, and that makes it very difficult," Connie Gallaher said.

At the same time, Connie says she sees the smile on her son's face when he talks about the work he is doing, what he will be doing, and that makes her know that he is in the right place for his life.

"I have people I know, my Air Force friends, who say he will be in the thick of things Connie," Gallaher said.  But she says that all of the branches of the military work hard to care for the men and women in uniform, and to be there for the families too.

"They care for the men and women in the same way that our son's and daughter's care for our country," Connie said.

On this Veterans Day, along with Memorial Day, and the Fourth of July, Connie says that they have always had meaning for her and her family. But now that her son is serving his country, it has special meaning for sure.

"I want to say thank you to all of those that serve, thank you for putting service in front of self," Gallaher said. "And to my son, take care, and know that your Mom loves you."
