FOX28: Family of 37 People Sacrifice Holiday Gatherings This Year

Typically for Thanksgiving, Roberta and Gus Gastaldo would spend the holiday as part of a gathering of 37 family members.  This year, it will just be the two of them in their home. 

"I don't want to start crying, but it is very sad that we have to do this, because we are older now, and we don't know how many more we have to go," Roberta Gastaldo told ABC6/FOX28 reporter Kalea Gunderson.

They're following the recommendations of the CDC, as well as their son, OhioHealth system medical director of infectious diseases, Joe Gastaldo, MD.  

"It's a very different experience for us because we're not going to be eating together, but all of us realize that it's not worth it for us as a family to take the risk of having them get COVID and having a bad outcome," Dr. Gastaldo told Gunderson.
