OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital Celebrated for Significant Energy Reduction Efforts

OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital is pleased to announce that it has received the prestigious Energy to Care® Sustainability Champions Award and Sustained Performance Award from the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association.

Energy to Care is ASHE’s award-winning program dedicated to helping healthcare facilities track their energy, water and emissions reduction efforts and celebrates hospitals and health systems that go above and beyond in achieving their environmental impact reduction goals. The Sustainability Champions Award is the Energy to Care Program’s highest distinction. Mansfield Hospital is one of just 70 facilities, from a total of 13 health systems, to earn the Sustainability Champions Award in 2026, representing only 1.4% of the total facilities participating in the Energy to Care program. In addition to tracking energy, water and greenhouse emissions, winning facilities must maintain an ENERGY STAR® score of 75 above, report a published sustainability statement and have dedicated sustainability personnel on staff.

The Sustained Performance Award recognizes past Energy to Care Award winners that have continued to see progress in these efforts by further reducing or maintaining reduced emissions. Mansfield Hospital is one of 328 facilities to earn the Sustained Performance Award in 2026, representing just 6.6% of the total facilities participating in the program.

Participation in the Energy to Care Program has seen consistent growth since its inception in 2006. More than 4,900 facilities have participated over the past two decades, and in the entire life of the program, healthcare facilities have seen a combined savings of over $550 million dollars reallocated to patient care.
