If you plan on attending the North End Farmers Market this month in Mansfield, don't be surprised if you smell a fresh, summer meal coming together packed with vitamins and nutrients.

OhioHealth's diabetes education team is hosting live cooking demonstrations at the farmers market this summer to encourage the community to make healthy eating choices.

“It’s a good teaching opportunity to show them how to utilize the things they’re purchasing here in a healthy way,” said Fulk.

Fulk says the main ingredients of the dishes are purchased at the farmers market, meaning they're in season and typically lower priced.

“I just want people to learn something new,” said Fulk. “Think about how they can implement something like this for themselves. Maybe they didn’t think they could do that before.”

For those who want to keep learning, Mansfield Hospital offers diabetes self-management education, outpatient medical nutrition therapy, and a diabetes prevention program.

The cooking continues at the farmers market August 13th and August 27th. Fulk says the demonstration will begin around 4:45 PM.

She encourages those attending to bring any questions they may have about the diabetes care programs, as well as an appetite for fresh, delicious food.
