Medical Minute: Giving Tuesday

This is truly the season of giving. We have passed the Thanksgiving holiday, and we are now into the heart of the holiday season. As people plan for presents, shopping, purchasing online, or in stores, there is something else to consider.  Will you give to a charity to round out the year?

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is considered Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving in place since 2012. While some choose to give their time and effort into causes, others donate money to organizations doing good around the country and globe.

Simon Bisson is the Vice President of Philanthropy at the OhioHealth Foundation.  He says Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to make a tremendous difference. The OhioHealth Foundation engages with the community, corporate partners and the general public to ensure donations made will support areas of greatest need, whether at a care site, a clinical program, or to help OhioHealth associates.

“Our role is to inspire gifts of gratitude from a variety of sources,” Bisson said.

The Foundation raises and invests funds to support innovations in medicine, new technologies and vital community programs and services.

“We receive gifts from grateful patients, those who want to recognize a nurse or caregiver who truly helped them at a time of need.  We see gifts that help sponsor larger programs, but there are so many different ways to make a difference, and every dollar counts,” Bisson said.

Gifts to the OhioHealth Foundation can happen anytime of the year, but if you'd like to give today, you can click here.
