OhioHealth Oncologist to Take Leave of Absence To Reconnect With Family
A key pillar in the Richland County cancer care space is taking a leave of absence to reconnect with her family. After 25 years of service, Srividya Viswanathan, MD, a medical oncologist at OhioHealth Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals, will travel to India for an extended period of time beginning February 1, 2026. Dr. Viswanathan says this visit home isn’t just a break- it’s a chance to reconnect with her roots and loved ones in a way that short trips never allowed.
Dr. Viswanathan has been a cornerstone of cancer care in Mansfield and the surrounding area for over a decade. She began practicing as an oncologist with MedCentral Health System in 2011, which later became part of the OhioHealth system. Her journey in medicine includes a residency at Queens Hospital Center in New York, affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and a fellowship in pain medicine and medical oncology at The Ohio State University.
While the date of her return hasn’t been set, she wants to remind her patients they remain her top priority. "My passion is caring for my patients and that will not change,” said Dr. Viswanathan. “This time away is a personal journey to reconnect with my family, but I want to assure you that I will be returning. I have complete confidence in the wonderful team here at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. You will be in the very best hands while I am gone, and I look forward to seeing you all again when I come back."
