OhioHealth President and CEO, Steve Markovich, MD, Recognized as One of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives by Modern Healthcare
OhioHealth is proud to announce that Steve Markovich, MD, president and CEO of OhioHealth, was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of this year’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives. The recognition program acknowledges clinicians working in the healthcare industry who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact. Clinical leadership is needed now, more than ever, to champion evidence-based approaches that will mitigate the impact of the pandemic and address the longstanding health inequities that have become even clearer as a result of the crisis.

Regarding Dr. Markovich’s selection for this honor, Modern Healthcare wrote, “Markovich took over as president and CEO of the Columbus, Ohio health system in July 2019. Several months later, as COVID-19 swept across the nation, he deftly led the health system through surging caseloads. That included overseeing creation of an incident command center that met daily in the early days of the pandemic. OhioHealth partnered with three competing health systems in the Central Ohio region to ensure there was adequate supply of personal protective equipment. Under his leadership, the health system is also making strides on board-approved measures to address diversity, equity and inclusion across such areas as patient care, workforce development and partnerships with community businesses.”
