10TV: Call For Help

WBNS Teams Up With OhioHealth SARNCO To Answer Questions, Offer Help

You have likely seen on social media in the last week the hashtag #MeToo. 5 simple letters that mean so much to those impacted by sexual harassment, or for survivors of sexual assault.

In addition to those directly impacted by harassment or assault, friends, families, even perfect strangers have stepped up to show support for #MeToo in their own posts.

This week WBNS 10TV teamed up with OhioHealth SARNCO, the Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio for an all-day phone bank.

Those from the SARNCO team, along with representatives from the HelpLine of Delaware/Morrow Counties took calls from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. of anyone who needed to have someone to reach out to.

SARNCO offers support and service to survivors of sexual assault. The 24-Hour Rape Helpline is 614-267-7020, or the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) at 1 (800) 656-HOPE.

Funding for these services is made available thanks to grants through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and several other state agencies.

“We thank 10TV for allowing us to be part of this very important outreach for men and women in our community, and state,” Susan Wismar, OhioHealth SARNCO prevention education coordinator said.

“At SARNCO we commit to amplifying your call for social and community change. We believe you, and are here to support you,” she added.
