Local businessman Gil Bundy and his family have committed $1.5 million to the OhioHealth Foundation to support emergency medicine and trauma services at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.
This significant gift commitment will establish The Bundy Family Fund for Emergency Medicine at Riverside Methodist, supporting the Bundy family’s vision to advance emergency and critical care services that provide exceptional care to patients throughout central Ohio.
Riverside Methodist is home to one of the busiest emergency departments in central Ohio, caring for more than 88,000 patients in FY25. As a Level II Trauma Center, Riverside provides 24/7 multidisciplinary emergency and trauma care for patients across the region.
This latest commitment expands the Bundy family’s longstanding support of Riverside Methodist. In 2022, the family established the Brooke A. Bundy Memorial Fund at Riverside Methodist in honor of Gil Bundy’s daughter, Brooke, a former OhioHealth associate who worked in the Riverside Emergency Department Laboratory before her passing in 2019. The Emergency Department Laboratory was later named in her memory.
“I’m grateful for and impressed by the immediate, expert trauma and emergency care provided by the hospital,” said Gil Bundy. “Along with my family, I am honored to make this gift so that everyone in our community can receive the exceptional, lifesaving care they deserve.”
The new fund will help support innovation and advancement in emergency medicine, trauma care and critical care services at Riverside Methodist.
“We are grateful to the Bundy family for their generosity and significant support of our trauma care and emergency services,” said Rob Cercek, president of OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. “This gift means innovation and advancement in critical care can happen for our dedicated trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, lab technicians, nurses and specialty teams.”
The Bundy family said the gift reflects both gratitude for the care provided at Riverside and a desire to support those who depend on emergency services every day.
“Our family has seen firsthand the compassion, professionalism and expertise of the Riverside Methodist Hospital teams,” the Bundy family shared. “We know this gift honors Brooke’s memory while helping ensure families throughout our community continue to receive exceptional emergency and trauma care when they need it most.”
Karen Morrison, president of the OhioHealth Foundation and senior vice president of OhioHealth, says the commitment demonstrates the impact philanthropy can have on patient care and healthcare innovation.
“This extraordinary commitment from the Bundy family helps strengthen Riverside Methodist’s ability to deliver lifesaving care for generations to come,” Morrison said. “Their generosity reflects a deep commitment to our community and to honoring the dignity and worth of every person we serve.”
