Circle of Honor Night: OhioHealth and the Columbus Crew Celebrate Legacy and Community

The Columbus Crew welcomed a new legend into their Circle of Honor, presented by OhioHealth, during their home match against D.C. United at Lower.com Field on Saturday, July 19.

The Columbus Crew recognized alumnus Forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto with the Club’s highest honor through his enshrinement as the fourth member of the Crew Circle of Honor, presented by OhioHealth.

The evening’s celebration featured a special induction ceremony, a tribute to the Crew and MLS’ 30th season, appearances by Crew alumni, and a giveaway of exclusive Barros Schelotto bobbleheads to the first 10,000 supporters in the stadium, courtesy of OhioHealth. Before the match, OhioHealth hosted an interactive fan experience as fans entered the stadium featuring games, giveaways, and the opportunity to meet and receive autographs from Crew alumni Brian McBride and Frankie Hejduk. 

In the days leading up to Circle of Honor night, Crew players visited OhioHealth hospitals to express their gratitude and welcome the newest and youngest members of the Crew family.

On June 30, Josh Williams, Frankie Hejduk, and Amar Sejdić visited families and associates in the maternity unit at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. A few days later, on July 2, Dante Washington, Darlington Nagbe, and Federico Higuain (Pipa) made similar visits at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. During these visits, players spent time engaging with patients, delivering gifts, and sharing the excitement of the upcoming celebration.

In honor of the July 19 Circle of Honor festivities, all babies born that day at OhioHealth hospitals will receive a special cobranded onesie.
