CityScene Columbus: Exercise as Medicine Isn't a Cure-All, but It's Pretty Close

The OhioHealth McConnell Heart Health Center focuses on giving the best care and treatment for the heart and vascular system. The center provides programs, such as cancer wellness programs and cardiac rehab, for specific ailments.

Dr. Mike Hyek, senior director of the McConnell Heart Health Center, told CityScene Columbus that people are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle and many have been able to overcome symptoms of depression with exercise alone. Patients are often not aware that exercise can treat depression, anxiety, and even cancer. Many studies have proven that exercise can often be more beneficial than medicine... and it's cheaper!
