Columbus Oncology & Hematology and OhioHealth Announce Opening Date of Dublin Cancer Center

Integrated approach to cancer care will offer a variety of services and resources under one roof

Columbus Oncology & Hematology and OhioHealth are excited to announce the opening of the Dublin Cancer Center on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. The collaboration between the two organizations will provide expert services and exceptional support for patients throughout their cancer journey, all under one roof.

The 32,000 square foot building, which is not a joint venture, is located at 6700 Perimeter Drive in Dublin and will be open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is owned by Columbus Oncology, with OhioHealth leasing 15,000 square feet of space.

“Dublin Cancer Center combines the strength of OhioHealth and the dedication of Columbus Oncology's independent physicians towards quality cancer care at this brand-new location,” said Nse Ntukidem, MD, Columbus Oncology & Hematology. “Our dedicated, compassionate and committed team of physicians and caregivers are thrilled about the opportunity to serve our patients close to home at the Dublin Cancer Center. We are focused on a comprehensive care model and healing that places the patient at the center of care.”

“I'm extraordinarily excited about the Dublin Cancer Center and what it means for our patients, what it means for the community and what it means for the model of care that we're developing around OhioHealth,” said Praveen Dubey, MD, vice president, OhioHealth Cancer Services. “The Dublin Cancer Center is a unique collaboration. We’re working together with high quality independent providers; we’re going to serve community needs and we’re going to provide a comprehensive slate of services to patients. We’re going to do it in a way that's unique and is absolutely consistent with OhioHealth values.”

Combined between both organizations, the Dublin Cancer Center will bring 52 jobs to Dublin.

All Columbus Oncology physicians are medical staff members at OhioHealth and most are MD Anderson Cancer Network® certified.

The Columbus Oncology practice at 810 Jasonway Avenue in Columbus includes OhioHealth imaging on-site and both will continue to remain open.

Services

Patients who live and work in and around Dublin will have easier access to physician practices representing:

  • Breast and cancer surgery
  • Gynecologic oncology
  • Medical oncology and hematology
  • Thoracic surgery
  • Surgical Oncology

Additionally, patients will have access to testing and advanced treatment therapies under the same roof, including:

  • Genetic counseling
  • Imaging
  • Precision medicine
  • Laboratory services
  • Infusion services
  • Blood transfusion

Supportive care, a vital resource to help patients physically and emotionally throughout treatment will also be available. This includes:

  • Patient navigators – registered nurses and social workers who provide support, education, short-term oncology counseling and guidance to patients and families, every step of the way
  • A support group for newly diagnosed patients in collaboration with Cancer Support Community Central Ohio
  • Massage therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Cold Cap therapy
  • Over My Head Boutique – wig fittings, skin care and specialty clothing
  • Living Story Tattoo – restorative breast tattooing and permanent makeup
  • WW weight management program
  • Breast Cancer Survivorship Clinic

The Dublin Cancer Center has been designed with key features to allow for comfort and tranquility while on-site, including a healing garden, large windows and spacious accommodations for both patients and their family members.

“Having services under one roof is critical for the patient journey,” said Dr. Dubey. “What we're doing at the Dublin Cancer Center is combining all the services under one roof so that the patient can see all their providers in one place – hopefully on one occasion, when possible. Before, patients used to have to travel to multiple offices at multiple sites. It was complicated for them, particularly at a time of already high anxiety and uncertainty. So, we believe that having all of those services co-located represents the best model for patient care.”

“Columbus Oncology & Hematology’s goal is to provide state of the art cancer care in a patient focused model in a center bringing together our care providers along with so many supportive services under one roof,” said Andrew Grainger, MD, Columbus Oncology & Hematology. We are proud to bring the Dublin Cancer Center to the Dublin community in collaboration with OhioHealth. OhioHealth brings a commitment to cancer care for the community reflective of our shared core values. We believe the patient experience will meet and exceed the community’s expectation of excellence in cancer care.”

Construction

Construction on the building began in June 2020. The general contractor for the project was Daimler Group and the architect was Andrews Architects.

The cost of the project came in at just under $10 million. OhioHealth is contributing $5 million towards the total cost for building and equipment.

Media Tours

Media is invited to tour the Dublin Cancer Center before it opens on May 20 for interviews, photographs and b-roll opportunities. Due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols, we will be scheduling blocks of time for media outlets between the hours of 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. that day.  Please email katie.logan@ohiohealth.com by May 19 to set up a time.
