Expanding 24/7 Interventional Stroke Care in Central Ohio, OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital Now a Thrombectomy-Capable Facility

OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital is now officially Joint Commission certified thrombectomy-capable. This designation allows patients in Pickerington and the surrounding areas to receive advanced stroke care around-the-clock, significantly improving chances for recovery and reducing long-term disabilities.

Stroke is a leading cause of disability and the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. With the new thrombectomy certification, OhioHealth strengthens its commitment to delivering time-critical stroke interventions closer to home, an essential step in optimizing treatment outcomes.

Thrombectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that removes blood clots from large blood vessels in the brain. This life-saving intervention can greatly reduce the risk of long-term disability and increase the likelihood of positive patient recovery.

OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital is now prepared to handle every level of acute stroke care—both ischemic and hemorrhagic—including mechanical thrombectomy and craniectomy, with 24×7 neurosurgery, neurology and trauma coverage in-house.

Behind this capability is a dedicated interdisciplinary team from neuroscience specialists, interventional neuro-radiologists, neurologists, paramedics, and emergency responders. These teams have undergone intense training to ensure seamless, rapid response from 911 call to treatment. This commitment ensures excellent outcomes and enhances quality of life for stroke survivors in our community.
