Michael Lawson Named President of OhioHealth Grant Medical Center

COLUMBUS, Ohio-OhioHealth is pleased to announce that Michael S. Lawson has been named president of OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, a 636-bed tertiary-care hospital located in downtown Columbus.Michael Lawson

Lawson has served as interim president of Grant since October 2013 and as senior vice president and chief operating officer since 2009. He replaces former president Vinson Yates who last year was named senior vice president and chief financial officer for OhioHealth.

During his tenure at Grant, Lawson led overall hospital operations, overseeing various clinical and non-clinical departments, spearheading construction projects and helping guide the hospital’s capital and budget management process. He was instrumental in Grant’s continued strong operational performance, overall growth and master site planning.

Lawson has almost three decades of healthcare operations and strategic development experience.  

He began his career at the Cleveland Clinic and held progressive management positions, advancing from an administrator role to senior level vice president positions responsible for service line, hospital-based and health system operations.

A native of Cleveland, Lawson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea and a Master of Business Administration degree from Cleveland State University.

He is a member of numerous civic and professional organizations and serves on the board of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, MedFlight, and MedCare. He is also a member of American College of Healthcare Executives, Medical Group Management Association and National Association of Health Service Executives.
