OhioHealth CEO Dave Blom Part of Commission That Helped Develop a New Direction for the VA

Recently, the VA Mission Care Act of 2018 was signed into law. This news for our nation's veterans because they will now be able to access their healthcare at VA-certified hospitals in their own communities. Before that, many had to travel to other cities for their care.

The initiative started in 2015 under the Obama administration when Congress created the Commission on Care and asked the group to develop recommendations for improving the care being provided by the VA to our veterans and their families.

The Commission was composed of  15 men and women - some healthcare professionals and some not - and included OhioHealth president and CEO, Dave Blom.

Blom says he was honored and grateful to be part of the commission with fellow medical experts, hospital administrators, veterans and advocates and to be given the opportunity to contribute in such a significant way.

Recently, Blom and fellow commission member, Lt. General Martin Steele, USMC, Ret., authored an op-ed article that appeared in Modern Healthcare, June 16, 2018.

In the article, they explain the very positive impact this will have on our veteran's and their families but caution that there is still work to be done to finish the job. Please click on the Modern Healthcare logo below to read the article provided courtesy of Modern Healthcare.
