OhioHealth Doctors Hospital Holds Dedication Ceremony Commemorating a Generous Gift of a Cuddle Cot
OhioHealth Doctors Hospital is honored to have held a dedication ceremony on Tues., March 18, commemorating a generous gift of a Cuddle Cot from the Harbour Knoxx Peabody Foundation.
The Harbour Knoxx Peabody Foundation was established by Michael and Elizabeth Peabody to support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss, inspired by the loss of their son, Harbour Knoxx Peabody. On December 6, 2022, they endured the profound grief of stillbirth—a tragedy in which death precedes birth. In the midst of this heartbreaking experience, a CuddleCot provided six precious days with Harbour, allowing time to hold him, love him, and create lasting memories. This invaluable resource enabled family members, including siblings, to meet and spend time with him, offering the opportunity for shared grieving and connection.
“Additionally, a nurse provided a Forget-Me-Knot Basket, a bereavement care package filled with comforting items, including a stuffed elephant, jewelry, a grief journal, a grief book, self-care products, and bereavement resources,” said Elizabeth. “This basket became an essential part of our healing process, continuing to provide comfort and support even years later.”
Upon leaving OhioHealth Grant Medical Center without their child, Michael and Elizabeth recognized the importance of bereavement support in the healing journey. Motivated by the care they received at Grant; they sought to extend the same compassion to other grieving families. In November 2023, they founded The Harbour Knoxx Peabody Foundation to provide resources, comfort, and support to those experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.
“To address gaps in bereavement care, we began creating Harbour’s Hope Boxes, which are carefully curated bereavement boxes designed to provide solace and support,” said Elizabeth.
The foundation has partnered with Ashlie’s Embrace to fundraise for a CuddleCot in Harbour’s honor, ensuring that other families could be granted the same invaluable gift of time. Doctors Hospital is the first hospital they've helped provide a Cuddle Cot for. Michael and Elizabeth also partnered with Miles Mission, which helps support their mission by providing copies of Dr. Michael Bullock’s book, Even Though I Know: A Journey from Grief to Gratitude to families in need of guidance and comfort. In addition, Miles Mission donates handmade miscarriage and pregnancy loss baby blankets, which are included in Harbour’s Hope Boxes, offering grieving parents a tangible keepsake to honor and remember their baby.
The Harbour Knoxx Peabody Foundation was built upon the very support and resources that once provided solace to Michael and Elizabeth Peabody during an unimaginable loss. Through its work, the foundation remains committed to offering families the time, care, and compassion needed as they navigate the heartbreaking reality of pregnancy and infant loss.
