OhioHealth Donates $150,000 to Support High School Career Academies
OhioHealth recently donated $150,000 to I Know I Can, a nonprofit organization, to help support local students explore different career paths and strengthen their hands-on experience in the workplace. This investment gives students the opportunity to try out different directions in the health sciences realm, integrate their own learning into real life health care situations and connect with advisors to prepare them for higher education.
“This investment from OhioHealth will help our students not only dream about their futures but build real, achievable plans to reach them,” said Katina Fullen, I Know I Can CEO. “Together, we are preparing the next generation of professionals who will serve and strengthen our community.”

This investment expands personalized advising, career exploration, and hands-on learning—giving students the tools, mentors, and real-world experiences to turn their interest in healthcare into a clear path to success. Together, we are building the bridge between potential and opportunity so every student can dream big and achieve their goals” said Fullen.
This funding will allow students to feel adequately prepared by helping to support them navigate college through individualized planning, financial guidance and career support. Columbus City Schools’ Career Academies gives students a pathway to gain valuable hands-on skills with a variety of career options. It also allows students to earn college credit and prepare for life after high school.
Dr. Angela Chapman, Superintendent/CEO of Columbus City Schools, said, “Through our Career Academies, we’re preparing the next generation of Columbus talent. When education and industry come together, we create powerful opportunities for students to earn credentials, gain experience and step into the city’s workforce ready to lead.”
Dr. Chapman said that their vision is to ensure the Career Academies are spread throughout Columbus City Schools, so that each student has a chance to advance their career by choosing an academy that aligns with their individual interests and strengths. The donation from OhioHealth gives students a chance to receive this well-rounded education and grow skills in the field they’re passionate about.
