OhioHealth Expands Title Sponsorship of Capital City Half Marathon, Becomes Title Sponsor of Quarter Marathon

OhioHealth will expand its sponsorship of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon in 2017 by becoming the Title Sponsor of the event’s “Quarter Marathon”, OhioHealth and M3S Sports announced today. The Quarter Marathon, at 6.55 miles (half of a half marathon) was pioneered by M3S Sports seven years ago to make the Capital City Half Marathon more accessible for more runners and walkers and allow participants to experience “all the celebration at half the distance."

“The Capital City Half Marathon has always been a celebration of the healthy active lifestyle and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than OhioHealth,” Race Director David Babner said. “OhioHealth is a remarkable community leader in health and wellness and we are proud to grow our partnership in 2017 with the title sponsorship of the Quarter Marathon, which will allow OhioHealth even more opportunities to directly impact our participants.”

The OhioHealth Quarter Marathon will join the OhioHealth Half Marathon, Official Training Plans and Official Medical Partner among the ways OhioHealth activates its Title Sponsorship of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon. The OhioHealth Foundation is also the event’s Official Benefiting Charity.

“This is an exciting opportunity for OhioHealth to expand our support of one of the best road races in Ohio,” said Sue Jablonski, senior vice president and chief communications officer, OhioHealth. “M3S Sports has created two wonderful races that appeal to both casual and serious runners and we couldn’t be happier to support an event that has helped so many people adopt a more active and healthy lifestyle.”

More than 14,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate when the 2017 OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon and 2017 USATF Half Marathon Championships are held on April 29, 2017 in downtown Columbus. The event will again be televised LIVE on WBNS 10TV.

The Capital City Half Marathon was named the “Best Half Marathon in Ohio” in December 2016 by DailyBurn, a national health and fitness company that provides workout and nutrition information to more than 2.5 million members.

M3S Sports, which produces the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, and OhioHealth have been partners since 2012. OhioHealth became the Title Sponsor of the Capital City Half Marathon in 2015. M3S Sports produces four other OhioHealth-sponsored events, including the OhioHealth Emerald City Half & Quarter Marathon in Dublin in August and the OhioHealth First On The First 5K on New Year’s Day in Westerville.

OhioHealth first invested in the Capital City Half Marathon to increase its overall presence in the community, aid its philanthropic foundation, and create a year-round running and walking experience that complements the other events it sponsors.

The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon is a three-day event that also includes the two-day OhioHealth Expotique, which will be held at Vue Columbus in the Brewery District for the first time in 2017.

OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon sponsors include OhioHealth, Diamond Cellar, Papa John’s, Marathon Petroleum, Byers Airport Subaru, Tequila Patrón, Giant Eagle, Miller LITE, WBNS 10TV, Gatorade Endurance, Diet Pepsi, 614 Magazine, TAG Heuer, Boom! Nutrition and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
