OhioHealth Honored for Supplier Diversity by OMSDC
OhioHealth has been recognized for its strong commitment in supporting minority-owned suppliers and business diversity. To honor this dedication, the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC) has awarded OhioHealth as the Class 2 Corporation of the Year. The Corporation of the Year Award recognizes corporations that are exceptionally dedicated to supplier diversity and economic equity.
“Winning this award signifies that OhioHealth is a leader in advancing minority business opportunities, fostering inclusive procurement practices, and creating measurable impact in Ohio communities. It reflects strong engagement with MBEs and alignment with OMSDC’s mission of minority economic equity” OhioHealth Responsible Sourcing Manager, Mandie DeWine said.
This recognition showcases the positive impact that OhioHealth has had by keeping inclusion at the foundation of all expansion. “Our award application showcased that OhioHealth has a mature, dedicated supplier diversity program, and demonstrated how collaboration drives innovation” DeWine said.
One prominent example that demonstrates this commitment is OhioHealth’s blue wrap recycling pilot program. This partnership with Sterile Waste Solutions, an OMSDC member, reflects the organization’s mission to support responsible sourcing in all communities. The program helped to transfer a significant amount of waste from landfills and recycle it into new environmentally conscious products. This effort to reduce waste has helped to cut costs and reduce OhioHealth’s carbon footprint.
To celebrate this contribution, OMSDC holds an annual gala to honor recipients. November’s event held over 300 attendees, allowing leaders and policymakers to connect and inspire greater change.
“Our overall goal in this space is to achieve equitable spend in the communities we serve, by continuing to support diverse and locally owned businesses, while promoting responsible sourcing and sustainability” DeWine said. “We have tripled the spend since the formalization of the program in 2017 and continue to look for new opportunities to increase economic equity in our communities”.
