'Tis the season of giving. And for many, that means trying to find the right charity, or group to give to. With so many worthwhile groups out there, that can be a real challenge.  But what is it that drives someone to give?

"I think it's a number of things that get people to the point where they'd want to give. Many times it can emotion, it can be feelings, it can be joy, it can be grief," Dana Casson, VP of the OhioHealth Foundation said.

Often, this is the time of year where someone gives, and maybe it's the only time they give.  While any donation, or gift is huge, for those that live in the world of philanthropy, the idea of gving year-round can really be a good option.

"Those gifts allow for sustainability for the programs that need help throughout the year.  Hunger, or medical issues don't happen only one time a year. So giving throughout the year, can make a huge difference for the programs," Casson said.

One of those places people turn to to give is the OhioHealth Foundation. These dollars aren't targeted to get lights on, but instead, it can really get programs that needed boost to make a difference in another families lives.

"The OhioHealth Foundation is a vehicle to help with these programs.  We have grateful patients who have received great service for them, or their family members, and they turn to the OhioHealth Foundation to make that great care possible for someone else," Casson said.
