OhioHealth Morrow County Hospital Launches New Medical Record System

OhioHealth Morrow County Hospital has invested in a major technology upgrade to enhance patient care with the launch of a new medical record system, CareConnect. CareConnect, powered by Epic- the nation’s leading electronic medical record platform- went live at Morrow County Hospital on February 22, following a $6 million total investment in IT standardization.

CareConnect creates a single, unified record for each patient, improving communication between care teams, enhancing safety and making it easier for patients to manage their health. With the new system, patients will have access to MyChart, a secure, online tool that allows them to view appointments, test results, billing information and more.

As part of this initiative, Morrow County Hospital also went live on software platform Workday, as well as 50 third-party integrated applications. These upgrades include advanced resource planning solutions and robust integrations to streamline workflows and safeguard patient information.

"Our $6 million investment in CareConnect and other integrated applications reflects our commitment to innovation and patient-centered care,” said Morrow County Hospital President Mike Hyek. “By adopting this cutting-edge technology, we are not only enhancing safety and communication but also empowering our patients and their families to take an active role in their healthcare journey."

CareConnect also connects patients and providers across OhioHealth’s entire system, as well as to other hospitals across the country that use Epic. More than 325 million patients nationwide have an Epic record.

Through MyChart, patients can easily manage appointments, communicate with their providers, view test results, pay bills, and request medication refills - all from their computer or smartphone. Caregivers and family members, with consent, can also be granted access to a loved one’s MyChart account, improving support for patients who may need assistance managing their health.

Morrow County Hospital is the latest OhioHealth hospital to adopt CareConnect, helping the health system deliver a seamless patient experience across all its hospitals and outpatient locations.
