OhioHealth named to FORTUNE's list of "100 Best Companies to Work For" for eighth consecutive year

COLUMBUS, Ohio - OhioHealth announced today it has been named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" for the eighth consecutive year by FORTUNE Magazine.

OhioHealth moved up from the 69th to the 35th spot this year. It is one of only three companies in Ohio to be recognized by FORTUNE this year and is the only "large" company in Ohio to make the list.

"Being a Best Company is really about how you help shape your culture every day," said Dave Blom, president and CEO of OhioHealth."It recognizes that we appreciate each other and that we all make sure people can count on us. By working together to deliver excellence and keep our patients first in everything we do - WE do make a difference. That is at the heart of this recognition."

"It is a great honor to be selected once again as one of the best workplaces in the nation," said Johnni Beckel, senior vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer for OhioHealth."Unlike other awards, being selected as a Best Company relies mostly on what OhioHealth associates say in the annual Great Place to Work Trust Index© survey, which accounts for two-thirds of our overall results and we are very proud of that."

Methodology - Trust Index + Culture Audit
To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America; 257 firms participated in this year's survey.

More than 252,000 employees at those companies were surveyed by the institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world.

Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie.

The other third is based on responses to the institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts.

After evaluations are completed, if news about a company comes to light that may significantly damage employees' faith in management, we may exclude it from the list.

Any company that is at least five years old and has more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible. The deadline for applying for next year's list is June 30, 2014.

"Working together has put us on this list," added Blom. "The biggest thanks go to all of our associates. They are what make us an award-winning team and the reason for our success."
