OhioHealth Named to Top 100 Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America

By Wendy's Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

OhioHealth has been recognized as a top 100 Adoption-Friendly Workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This is the 13th annual employer survey conducted by the foundation to identify the top 100 employers in the country with the best adoption benefits. OhioHealth ranked 35.

“We’re excited to be recognized by the Dave Thomas Foundation for our adoption-related benefits,” said Johnni Beckel, senior vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Our commitment to supporting associates who wish to expand their families through adoption is core to our organizational values. OhioHealth continues to improve our parental benefits along with investing in the overall well-being of our associates and their families.”

The 13th annual 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list includes a diverse group of organizations which are striving to make adoption a supported option for every working parent. The list compares financial reimbursement and paid leave offered to employees who adopt, based on a survey of organizations across the United States.

OhioHealth’s program allows for a lifetime maximum benefit of two adoptions. For each adoption, an associate can be reimbursed up to $13,460 in eligible expenses such as:

  • legal and court fees
  • adoption agency fees
  • foreign adoption fees
  • required medical exams for child and/or adopting parents
  • initial immunizations for the child
  • and expenses for kinship adoptions, i.e., adoption of a grandchild, sibling, niece, nephew or cousin.

“We are so pleased to see a growing number of employers recognize the importance of supporting families formed through adoption,” said Rita Soronen, President & CEO of the Foundation. “Congratulations to all the organizations on this year’s list, and thank you for sharing our belief that every child deserves a permanent home and loving family.” The complete Top 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace list can be viewed here.
