OhioHealth Offering Lung Cancer Screenings in Kenton and Marion

OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital and OhioHealth Marion General Hospital will be offering lung cancer screenings on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Lung cancer remains one the deadliest forms of cancer for both men and women, accounting for one in five of all cancer deaths in the United States.  Both events will provide early detection for lung cancer in those at an increased risk. 

“Early detection can save lives,” said Hiten Shah, MD, a pulmonologist at Marion General Hospital. “Especially for people with smoking history. We can screen for lung cancer and detect it at an early stage.” 

These screenings are recommended for people between the ages of 50 and 80 who smoke or who have a 20-pack year history, meaning individuals who smoked an average of one pack a day for the last 20 years or more. 

Screenings will take place at Hardin Memorial Hospital, located at 921 E. Franklin St, Kenton and Marion General Hospital at 1000 McKinley Park Drive, Marion. The events will be covered by most insurance providers and Medicare. Participants must have an order from a physician to take part in the screening.
