OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital to Expand Emergency Department, Add Additional Inpatient Unit
Expansion will address growing capacity needs while keeping care local
OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital is excited to begin work on an expansion of the emergency department (ED) and an additional inpatient unit. The two-story, 57,000 square foot addition will add:
- 28 ED treatment rooms (bringing total to 44 treatment rooms)
- One additional ED resuscitation room (bringing total to two)
- One additional ED triage room (bringing total to two)
- Two ED intake rooms
- 16 inpatient beds (bringing total to 24 on the second floor)
“We expanded from a medical campus to a hospital in 2023 and the support from the community has been tremendous,” said Kevin Lutz, DPM, President, Pickerington Methodist Hospital. “To continue to provide high-quality patient care for those who live and work in the area, we’ve realized we need to grow to meet the increasing demand for emergency and inpatient care.
The expansion is a $65 million continued investment in the Pickerington community.
“This expansion will allow us to continue to deliver a great experience for patients. Additional inpatient beds will allow for faster patient admissions and decrease congestion in the emergency department, ensuring we can provide timely and efficient care when our patients need it the most,” said Dr. Lutz.
In fiscal year 2025, the emergency department saw just over 44,000 patients.
Construction has begun with an anticipated opening in late 2028. Cannon Design is the project architect and Messer Construction Co. is lead contractor.
