OhioHealth Ranks Second on Business First's Largest Central Ohio Employers List
Columbus Business First has released its annual list of Central Ohio’s largest employers, with OhioHealth ranked second on the list. The health system added nearly 2,700 jobs last year in the seven-county area included in the survey, reporting 24,662 physicians and associates working in that area. The organization as a whole is comprised of over 35,000 physicians, associates and volunteers throughout its 50-county footprint.
OhioHealth saw its increase in jobs this year come from the opening of OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital in December 2023.
“As a system, OhioHealth continues to grow as we strive to fulfill our mission to improve the health of those we serve. With this growth comes the opportunity for new jobs,” said Cara Capretta, OhioHealth VP, HR Centers of Excellence. “We’re proud to have created over 600 jobs with the opening of Pickerington Methodist Hospital, as well as hundreds each at our two largest hospitals, OhioHealth Grant Medical Center and OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital to help us meet the needs of our growing central Ohio community.”
According to the publication, to compile the data, Business First asks area employers “for their total number of employees, which includes both full- and part-time workers.” Business First also reports that the numbers they have complied in their survey “show the majority of Central Ohio’s employers with over 10,000 employees bulking up their local workforce as the region continues to grow, a trend that is showing no signs of slowing. The state, in fact, projects Columbus will lead Ohio’s job gains into the next decade,” reported Zachary Jarrell, Data Reporter, Columbus Business First.
