OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Electrophysiology Team Achieves Major Milestones in AFib Care and Education
The Electrophysiology (EP) team at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital and the OhioHealth Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Clinic, are leading the way in heart rhythm innovation, clinical education, and community outreach.
National Recognition as AFib Center of Excellence
OhioHealth was the only healthcare system in Ohio recognized in a new Heart Rhythm Society guideline outlining criteria for Atrial Fibrillation Centers of Excellence, placing OhioHealth among 19 elite institutions in the world.
“This recognition reflects our commitment to providing world-class, evidence-based care for every patient,” said Anish Amin, MD, OhioHealth Foundation Endowed Chair in Heart Health and Cardiac Arrhythmias, the system medical chief for cardiac electrophysiology and the medical director of the Atrial Fibrillation Clinic (AFib) at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. “It means patients here in Ohio have access to the same level of expertise and innovation found at the leading institutions around the world.”
New Leadership in AFib Care
Auroa Badin, MD, was recently named medical director of the Riverside Methodist AFib Clinic, bringing his expertise and passion for improving outcomes for patients living with atrial fibrillation.
“My vision for the AFib Clinic is to deliver a patient-first experience where education, evidence-based care, and compassion come together,” said Dr. Badin. “Through a holistic approach that integrates lifestyle changes with the most advanced therapies, our goal is to empower patients and improve outcomes with treatment tailored to each individual.”
Research and Cutting-Edge Treatment
OhioHealth EP physicians recently published two articles highlighting cutting-edge practices:

Clinical Leadership and Innovation
On June 7, OhioHealth Cardiologist, Anish Amin, MD, and Dr. Badin hosted the inaugural Current CRM conference, at Hilton Downtown Columbus. The conference featured live cases from Riverside Methodist and other top institutions, expert panels, and discussions on the latest cardiac device therapies. Hundreds of participants joined both in-person and virtually.
“Hosting the Current CRM created an opportunity for physicians and industry leaders to exchange ideas and share real-world experience,” said Dr. Amin. “By bringing experts together, we’re helping ensure patients benefit from the latest and most effective approaches in cardiac care.”
Community Engagement and Education
On June 18, Andrea Uradu, MD, Keaira Cooper, BSN, and Brittany Latoche, RN, represented OhioHealth at Uplift Her Women’s Wellness Day at the Ohio Expo Center. The team provided free health screenings and educational resources, focusing on AFib awareness and prevention. Additional outreach events are planned for the year to reach underserved communities and minority populations.
“Education and early detection are key in preventing complications from AFib,” said Dr. Uradu. “By reaching out to underserved communities, we’re breaking down barriers to care and making sure more people understand their heart health.”
These achievements show a continued commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
