OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital Partners with Lifeline of Ohio to Provide Life Changing Organ Donations

Are you an organ donor? Have you or your loved one been a recipient of a donation? For many, this can be the single most important gift they could ever receive. 

In late August, the Dempsey Family Education and Resource Center, at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, collaborated with Lifeline of Ohio to present “Leaving your Legacy Through Organ Donation.” The event provided education on the organ donation process, told the stories of those impacted from the gift of organ donations and provided a reliable place to ask a Lifeline of Ohio staff member questions.

“This partnership could not be more needed,” said Jenn Smith, Chief Operating Officer, Lifeline of Ohio. “There is a lot of misinformation out there and having OhioHealth help us share the importance of becoming an organ donor and how successful it can be is so important.”

There were many people in attendance including two special guests. One speaker talked about how his life was saved because of a donation. Guests also heard from the widow of a loving husband and father who gave the ultimate gift to others after his unexpected death. 

“We really value our partnership with Lifeline of Ohio,” said Kanesha Moss, Chief Nursing Officer, and Vice President of Patient Care Services, Riverside Methodist Hospital. “They are doing fantastic work, and these gifts are changing countless lives. Our teams value the connection between OhioHealth and Lifeline of Ohio, which leads to such an important connection with our communities and patients.” 

There are 3,000 Ohioans waiting for an organ transplant. Becoming an organ donor can save someone’s life.
