OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital Recognizes Columbus Fire Unit as EMS Unit of the Year

The OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital Emergency Department has named Columbus Fire Department Medic 11/Engine 11/EMS 17 its EMS Unit of the Year, recognizing the crew’s exceptional clinical skill, teamwork and commitment to delivering outstanding emergency care in the moments when it matters most.

The annual recognition honors an EMS unit that exemplifies excellence in pre-hospital medicine through rapid assessment, sound clinical judgment, seamless communication and unwavering dedication to patient care. Medic 11/Engine 11/EMS 17 demonstrated those qualities throughout the year, providing advanced emergency treatment while working in close partnership with Riverside’s emergency department and specialty care teams.

“EMS professionals are often the first link in a patient’s chain of survival, and the care they provide before a patient ever reaches our doors can make all the difference,” said Tina Solazzo, EMS Outreach Manager at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. “This group consistently demonstrates the professionalism, clinical excellence and teamwork that define outstanding emergency medical services. We are proud to recognize them as our EMS Unit of the Year and grateful for the partnership we share in caring for our community.”

The recognition also highlights the close collaboration between Central Ohio EMS agencies and the multidisciplinary teams at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where emergency physicians, nurses, trauma specialists, cardiologists and critical care teams work together to provide timely, lifesaving care.
