OhioHealth’s Commitment to the Grove City Community

OhioHealth has been a present factor within the Grove City Community for over 30 years. Spanning from OhioHealth Grove City Health Center, outpatient practices and OhioHealth’s close relationship with South-Western City Schools, OhioHealth has truly brought quality healthcare into the heart of the community.

“We are keeping care local,” said Kevin Lutz, DPM, President, OhioHealth Grove City Methodist Hospital, in a recent interview with the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce. 

OhioHealth’s ‘active lifestyle’ begins with engaging membership within the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce. OhioHealth is a dedicated attendee and sponsor at their events, including those such as ‘Arts in the Alley’, which is a noted community favorite.

Andy Hardy, OhioHealth Manager of External Affairs, is also enthusiastic about OhioHealth’s activity with the Chamber Foundation. The ‘charitable arm’ prioritizes scholarship opportunities. These scholarships have assisted OhioHealth associates in reducing their educational expenses.

However, the community spirit felt by OhioHealth goes well beyond the Chamber. Grove City “is a community that’s easy to engage with,” said Lutz. This is the areas unique ‘secret sauce’.

From the Firecracker 5k, various city events and the Buddy Ball Program (a Chamber member organization), OhioHealth is deeply rooted within all aspects of the community. This extended involvement helps OhioHealth and its associates better understand the community and patients they are providing care for.

“It’s hard to understand needs if not engaged in that community,” Dr. Lutz explained. “This is why it is so valuable for OhioHealth to stay active within Grove City. Healthcare providers should have a deep understanding of the community they serve.”

OhioHealth also keeps care local by providing athletic trainers to support South-Western City School District’s student athletes. This not only brings quality care to the youth of the area, but also provides OhioHealth with valuable insight into the younger generation.

Lutz and Hardy spoke proudly about the number of OhioHealth associates who actively choose to volunteer and spend their time involved in community causes. Grove City is home to more than 1,000 OhioHealth associates. It is a community they call home, just like many of the patients that receive care within their walls.

OhioHealth is much more than just a hospital. Relationships are a key factor. Lutz emphasized the significance of having a relationship with the community, where residents can feel at ease with familiar faces surrounding them. Community-oriented healthcare like patients receive at Grove City Methodist Hospital is a major benefit that cannot be overlooked.

“We’re part of the fabric of the Grove City community”, said Lutz.
