Thursday, Feb. 4 marked the 2021 edition of the Columbus Blue Jackets' Hockey Fights Cancer presented by OhioHealth.  While the COVID-19 pandemic meant that fans were not able to be there in person, it was still a special evening full of meaningful moments.

Andrew Freeman, MD, OhioHealth's chief of radiation oncology, was interviewed by the Blue Jackets TV and radio networks about the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic for cancer patients and the importance of keeping with with cancer screenings during this time.  You can watch the TV interview in the video player above.

Fans were able to fill out the traditional "United We Fight Cancer For..." battle cards virtually to share support for those fighting cancer. And the conversation kept going throughout the evening with the hashtag #CBJHFC.  The players wore lavender Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys for their warmups, which represents awareness for all types of cancer.  These jerseys will be auctioned off by the team to benefit pediatric cancer.
